at Willem de Kooning Academie.
STRAND turns mass manufacturing into small batch
production that utilizes local renewable materials and
recycled harmful waste products with special consideration
to regional needs and craft.
The standing broom and dustpan set is made up of three
materials that are distinct to Rotterdam or widely available in
the area. The bristles are recycled fishing rope fibres and the
dustpan bottom is madeof plastic bags both collected from
Hoek van Holland Strand. The structures of the broom and
dustpan are Scots Pine, a wood that is grown in and widely
available across the Netherlands. The hardware is stainless
steel metric allen hardware and the finish is FSC Certified
OSMO both readily available at all local
hardware stores.
